We are pleased to announce that the Annals of Eye Science (AES) has attained its first impact factor for the 2024 citation year: 1.1.

We are pleased to announce that the Annals of Eye Science (AES) has achieved its 2024 CiteScore: 1.6, ranking 85 out of 141 journals in the Ophthalmology category. This milestone underscores our ongoing commitment to publishing impactful research in the field.

AES features a distinguished editorial board, the members of which continue to instill the power of their expertise for the journal’s development. By launching this column, we are glad to introduce to you some of them in the form of interviews, in which they will share their unique career experiences and perspectives. Welcome Dr. Karl Golnik to be the New Co-Editor-in-Chief of AES

The editorial office is pleased to announce that Dr. Karl Golnik is taking on the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Eye Science (AES), effective from September 2024. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Golnik to take on his new role!

AES is officially indexed by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)

On March 20, 2024, a confirmation letter reached the editorial office of Annals of Eye Science (AES) that the journal met the selection criteria necessary to be included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index. Articles published in AES after 2022, beginning with Vol 7, will be included in Emerging Sources Citation Index.

Reviewer of the Month (2025)

In 2025, AES reviewers continue to make outstanding contributions to the peer review process. They demonstrated professional effort and enthusiasm in their reviews and provided comments that genuinely help the authors to enhance their work.

Improving Teaching Skills in Ophthalmology

This special series on “Improving Teaching Skills in Ophthalmology” is edited by Dr. Karl Golnik, Dr.Yip Chee Chew, Dr. Gabriela Palis and Dr. Meena Swaminathan. The goal of the series is to improve ophthalmic educators’ teaching abilities and to produce better ophthalmologists and ultimately better eye care.
