The editorial office is pleased to announce that Dr. Karl Golnik (figure 1) is taking on the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Eye Science (AES), effective from September 2024. Please join us in wishing Dr. Golnik all the best in his new role!

Dr. Golnik is a neuro-ophthalmologist and ophthalmic educator. He has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Lifetime Achievement award, the North American Neuro-ophthalmology Society’s Merit Award, and more than 10 teaching awards throughout his career. He has given more than 1100 invited neuro-ophthalmology and medical education lectures in more than 75 countries and has over 150 publications in these fields. He serves as a Board member and Chair for Education of the Ophthalmology Foundation. He is also Past-President and current Secretary for International Relations of the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO).
Since October 2018, Dr. Golnik had been an Associate Editor-in-Chief of AES before taking on the new role. Recently, Dr. Golnik has been leading a special series on Improving Teaching Skills in Ophthalmology for AES: https://aes.amegroups.org/post/view/improving-teaching-skills-in-ophthalmology-ongoing.
We are excited to have Dr. Golnik in the new position to build on his experience with AES and the collaborative effort of the team to add brilliance to AES. We believe that AES will achieve a higher standard and greater prestige under the joint leadership of Dr. Liu and Dr. Golnik.
