The year-end summary meeting of Annals of Eye Science
The Annals of Eye Science (AES) year-end summary meeting was held on January 23rd, 2019, in the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou (Figure 1).
AES is an international, open access, peer-reviewed online journal, which was co-founded by the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center and AME Publishing Company in December 2016. After two years of development, AES has gradually become an international forum for the dissemination of both current and practical information concerning diagnosis and prevention in ophthalmology, along with other related general and clinical investigations in the field.
By the end of 2018, AES had 59 members on the editorial board. These members come from 13 countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Australia. Google Analytics shows that 15,993 visitors visited the AES website in the past year. Visitors were from diverse countries, with the majority from the USA, followed by India, China, and the UK.
During the meeting, the editorial boarder members discussed the plan for the next stage of development. Relying on the State Key Laboratory (ophthalmology), the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) has attracted many experts to come and communicate their new research. The editorial office of AES will make the most of the opportunity provided by the ZOC to enhance communication with ophthalmologists. The AES will never stop in its mission of providing information from the frontier of ophthalmology.
