Dr. Gui-shuang Ying is the Carolyn F. Jones Professor of Ophthalmology, the Director of the Center for Preventive Ophthalmology and Biostatistics, Department of Ophthalmology, the Associate Scholar in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Ying has 24 years of experience in leading the data coordinating center for several large, multi-center NEI-funded clinical trials including the ongoing Glaucoma Drainage Device and Endothelial Cell Loss Compare Trial (DECLARE), the Fluorometholone as Adjunctive Medical Therapy for TT Surgery (FLAME) Trial, and the successfully completed Telemedicine Approaches to Evaluating Acute-Phase ROP (e-ROP) Study, the Postnatal Growth and Retinopathy of Prematurity (G-ROP) Study, and PI of several secondary data analysis grants funded by NEI. Dr. Ying has authored or co-authored 440+ papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Ying is Associate Editor-in-Chief for Ophthalmic Epidemiology, and an Associate Editor for Translational Vision Science and Technology (TVST), the Retina/Vitreous Preferred Practice Pattern® Panel member, a Silver Fellow of ARVO. Dr. Ying received a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in biostatistics from the University of Michigan, an MD in Preventive Medicine, and an MPH from Zhejiang University in China.
